  • Friday, Nov. 21, 2014--Homer Walden and his wife Dru Peters will process 150 grass-fed all-natural Broad Breasted Bronze turkeys this season at their Sunnyside Farm. That is three times as many as in past years. They credit the rise in their harvest to the protection from predators provided by their dogs. Bill Kalina - bkalina@yorkdispatch.com

York County's Best Kept Secrets Tour

  • 7 photos for sale Buy a Photo
  • Through November 22, 25 York County businesses are participating in the Best Kept Secrets Tour. Including businesses in a wide range of retail outlets, like farms, jewelry shops, and natural foods, the tour is a first for York County, but it has been a success in surrounding counties, including Lancaster, where it began in 2008. Tourists travel in their own vehicles, but aren't told where they'll be headed--anywhere between Hanover and Hellam and Red Lion to Dover--until they purchase a ticket for $8. The ticket is good for use anytime until November 22. Tour stops offer refreshments, demonstrations, free gifts, discounts and the chance to win a $200 shopping spree. To buy tickets, check http://www.yorkcoshoppingtour.com or call 717-637-8869. Bil Bowden photos
