Eighteen cadets, ages 12 to 17, from the York and Lancaster Civil Air Patrol squadrons, planned flights and flew planes from the Shreveport North private airstrip in Wellsville to the York Airport and back on June 4. Due to reduced federal funding for orientation flights, six area pilots, under the sponsorship of the Mason-Dixon sports Flyers of Kralltown, donated their time and planes for the event. The cadets’ program included a presentation by Kathy Martin, the Harrisburg FAA Region safety team manager. The pilots are Ray Boyles, of East Berlin, Mike Marra, Fred Schrom and Giancario Angelini, of Carlisle, and Bob Reed and Tim Trimble, of Lancaster. Pictured, Chris Sproul from CAP Squadron 301 pilots a Cessna 150 on his flight from Shreveport North to York Airport.
